NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) will start accepting the application for the eligibility certificate of the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) 2023 from tomorrow on the official website, nmc.org. Candidates can fill the application form till 6 pm on October 25.

The FMGE, also known as the MCI screening test, is held for foreign medical graduates who want to practise medicine in the country. Applicants will have to pay a fee of Rs 7,080, including GST, for applying for the examination.

Students applying for should be either Indian national or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI). They should have an MBBS degree from the institutions mentioned in the World Directory of Medical Schools of the World Health Organisation (WHO) or an institution duly attested by the Indian embassy concerned for the candidates to be recognised as medical practitioners in India.

However, candidates with a postgraduate medical degree from an institution from Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and the United States of America don’t have to appear in the examination. They can directly register with the NMC.

Candidates will have to appear for two papers, which will have 150 multiple choice questions each. Every correct answer will get one mark. Students will have to attend each paper in 150 minutes.

NMC asked candidates to confirm the requirement of the eligibility certificate by referring to the public notices dated December 11, 2018 and April 5, 2019 on its website.
