The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the exam date for the December 2025 Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). The registration process for the NBE FMGE 2025 exam will begin at 3 pm on November 14 through the official website, natboard.edu.in.

As per the schedule, the FMGE December 2025 exam will be conducted on January 17, 2026. The exam is conducted for students who have completed their MBBS degree from a recognized foreign university to practice medicine in India.
Qualifying the screening test is mandatory for Indian students to register as doctors in the country. The detailed information bulletin and exam details will be published on November 14 along with the FMGE application form, the NBE said.
“The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) shall conduct the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination(FMGE) – December 2025 on 17th January 2026 on a computer-based platform at various examination centers across the country,” the official notice read.
The NBEMS conducts the screening test for foreign medical graduates twice a year - June and December – as a computer-based test (CBT).
As per the FMGE June 2025 results , out of 37,207 registered candidates, 36,034 candidates appeared and only 6,707 qualified. While the pass rate stood at around 18%, the failure rate was far higher than the previous years at 81.39%.
As per the qualifying criteria, candidates have to score at least half of the total 300 marks - 150 – to be eligible.

Meanwhile, hundreds of foreign graduates staged a protest outside the National Medical Commission (NMC) office on Tuesday, demanding the release of eligibility certificates, which were being allegedly “withheld for years in the name of verifications”.
