NEW DELHI: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023 saw 77 percent attendance this year which is 10% higher than last year, said Abhay Karandikar, director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. 6.8 lakh candidates registered for the exam, he said. IIT Kanpur conducted GATE 2023 on April 4, 5, 11, and 12.

According to the IITK director, the exam was conducted smoothly across 500 examination centres in all sessions except the last session as there was a delay of one to 1.5 hours in a few centres due to technical glitch. “However, the examination went smoothly after the issue was resolved by our partner TCS,” he said.

“#GATE2023 was successfully completed, with the final session held on 12th February. The examination was held on 4, 5, 11, and 12 February, 2023 in eight sessions. The examination this year witnessed overwhelming response with about 6.8 lakh candidates registering for it,” Karandikar said in a tweet.

“All the affected candidates were given full three hours. Transportation to bus stands and railway stations was also arranged for the candidates from some of these affected centres, and were also offered refreshments,” he said.

GATE exam 2023 was held in two shifts – 9:30am to 12:30pm and 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Candidates can download the GATE 2023 exam response sheet through the login portal on February 15. The GATE answer key 2023 will be available online from February 21. In case, a candidate has issues regarding the answer key, they can raise an objection against the answer key from February 22 to 25, 2023.
