NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 registration dates. The GATE 2025 registration will open on August 24. Interested and eligible candidates can fill up the GATE 2025 application form by visiting the official website, gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

The GATE 2025 registration deadline without late fee is September 26. However, the GATE 2025 registration with late fee will close on October 7. The GATE 2025 exam is scheduled to be held on February 1, 2, 15, 16. The GATE 2025 exam will be held in computer-based mode. The GATE 2025 exam will comprise of 30 papers in total. The duration of GATE 2025 exam is 3 hours. The GATE 2024 admit card issue date is yet to be announced.

GATE 2025 application fee

Candidates are required to pay the GATE 2025 application fee to complete the registration process. The GATE 2025 application fee is required to be paid online through credit, debit, net banking or UPI. Candidates can belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Person with Disabilities and Females are required to pay Rs 900 per paper as GATE 2025 application fee. Whereas all other candidates including foreign nationals are required to pay GATE 2025 application fee of Rs 1,800 per paper. Candidates are required to additionally pay Rs 500 as late fee if applied for GATE 2025 between September 26 to October 7.

GATE 2025 Registration: Documents required

Candidates will require the following documents for GATE 2025 registration

  • High quality image of candidate’s photograph
  • High quality image of candidate’s signature
  • Scanned copy of Category (SC,ST) certificate in pdf format (if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of PwD Certificate in pdf format (if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of Certificate of Dyslexia in pdf format (if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of valid photo Identity document- Aadhar-UID (preferable), Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID
  • The photo ID must have name, date of birth of the candidate and unique photo ID number. This photo ID must be carried in original to the examination hall for verification.

GATE 2025 marking scheme

As per GATE 2025 marking scheme, the exam includes both 1-mark and 2-mark questions, with negative marking applied to incorrect answers in multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Specifically, 1/3 mark is deducted for a wrong answer in a 1-mark MCQ, and 2/3 mark is deducted for a wrong answer in a 2-mark MCQ. However, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers in multiple select questions (MSQs) or numerical answer type (NAT) questions. Additionally, MSQs do not have partial marking.
