GATE 2027 for 30 test papers

Another structural change is that the Textile Engineering and Fibre Science (TF) paper has been merged as a sectional paper under Engineering Sciences (XE). With these changes, GATE 2027 will comprise 30 test papers.

About GATE

GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The examination evaluates candidates' understanding of undergraduate-level subjects across engineering, technology, science, architecture, commerce, arts and humanities. The 2027 edition marks the 45th year of GATE since it was first conducted in 1983.

The GATE score is used for admission to master's, direct doctoral and PhD programmes offered by institutions supported by the Ministry of Education and other government agencies. Several public sector undertakings (PSUs) and other organisations also consider GATE scores for recruitment, while many higher education institutions use them for postgraduate admissions. The scores remain valid for three years from the date of the declaration of results.
