Check NowThe Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) will announce the new dates for the GATE 2027 applications soon on its official website at gate2027.iitm.ac.in. Candidates seeking admission to various master's and doctoral programmes will be able to register for the GATE through the above mentioned official portal.
Earlier, the engineering institute had issued the GATE 2027 registration open dates. However, later the dates were removed and candidates now are awaiting a new registration date and time.
According to the official website, the GATE 2027 registration window will be closed by September 27.
IIT Madras will conduct the GATE 2027 examination on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, the official schedule read. The results will be declared on March 19, it added.
GATE 2027 eligibility, DigiLocker
The institute has also notified the candidates to create or update their verified DigiLocker accounts before applying as DigiLocker registration is mandatory for GATE 2027.
As per the eligibility, candidates must be a graduate or studying in the last year of their degree programme or they should have completed a government-approved degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts or humanities.
The GATE 2027 examination will be held in a computer-based mode, and the question paper will only be in English language. Each paper will be held for a duration of three hours and consists of 65 questions, carrying 100 marks.

GATE 2027 marking scheme, exam pattern
Candidates will be given one or two marks for each correct answer depending on the partial marking that the question is carrying. Those questions worth one mark will have a negative marking of 1/3 marks, whereas, for 2-mark questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted.
Notably, there will be no negative marking for MSQ questions and there is no partial marking in MSQs.
Recently, the engineering institute added Robotic and Automation (RA) as a new GATE paper. It has also made changes to the Biotechnology (BT), Texting Engineering and Fibre Science (TF), Engineering Sciences (XE), humanities, social sciences, and life sciences papers.
The GATE 2027 is the gateway for admission to MTech and PhD programmes at IITs, National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), and Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru (IISc), while several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) accept GATE scores for recruitment purpose.

GATE 2027 required documents list for registration
The GATE 2027 registration link will be activated soon. Candidates are required to keep the following documents/details ready:
- Recent photograph and signature in the prescribed format
- Valid photo ID proof
- Degree/provisional certificate or relevant certificate for eligible candidates
- Category certificate for SC/ST/PwD candidates, if applicable
- DigiLocker details, preferably with a verified account
- Educational qualification details such as institute name, degree and year of study
- Valid mobile number and email ID
- Certificate of qualifying degree, where applicable, as specified in the GATE 2027 application guidelines

GATE 2027 exam date and registration
IIT Madras will commence the GATE registration soon. The GATE application process was earlier scheduled to begin on August 14 and was subsequently rescheduled to August 27. As per the GATE 2027 exam dates, the exam will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.
