The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) will begin the GATE 2027 registrations tomorrow, August 27 for admission to MTech, PhD programmes, and recruitment to Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) registration form will be available at the official GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS), gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
Eligible candidates will be able to access the GATE 2027 online registration portal from August 27 to September 27.
IIT Madras will issue the GATE city intimation slip for GATE exam on January 4, 2027 and the GATE exam will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21.
The GATE 2027 results will be announced on March 19 for admission to MTech and PhD courses at IITs, National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc), and recruitment to PSUs.

The eligibility criteria for GATE 2027 requires students with any government-approved undergraduate degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts or the humanities.
Notably, students in the third year or above of BE who entered through the second year after receiving a diploma are also eligible to apply.
Candidates planning to appear for the GATE 2027 may have to pick a paper that is relevant to the field of their degree or can pick up two GATE papers.
Candidates can follow the steps given below to register for GATE 2027.
Those belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) category, should have to pay Rs 1,000 as GATE 2027 registration fee.
Other candidates including foreign nationals can pay Rs 2,000 as GATE 2027 application charges.
The GATE 2027 will be held in a computer-based mode (CBT) and the question paper will be in English language only.
The college entrance test will include 30 test papers. As per the marking scheme, for questions carrying 1-mark, there will be a deduction of 1/3 marks for incorrect response.
For 2-mark questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted for wrong answers.
