GIMSR medical college holds convocation, awards degrees to MBBS students of 2023 batch

GITAM- GIMSR Convocation 2023: Institute of Medical Sciences and Research presented Chaparala Lokesh with the president's gold medal.
NEW DELHI: The Gandhian Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR), Visakhapatnam, hosted its third graduation ceremony for MBBS students of the outgoing 2023 batch.
The chief guest of the event was Sanjay Zodpey, president of the Public Health Foundation of India. The convocation was also attended by GITAM leadership team, including D Gunasekaran, registrar, GITAM; Thapovardhan, governing body member of GITAM; VVL Narasimha Rao, superintendent of GIMSR hospital and M Harini, vice-principal of GIMSR.

Chaparala Lokesh received the president's gold medal. Ananyaa Sinha was conferred with the Vimala Garimella Memorial Award for the best outgoing woman student along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 for her achievements and contributions as a woman in the medical field. Merit certificates and medals for individual subjects throughout the various phases of the MBBS programme were also presented to the students.
Congratulating the graduates, GITAM president Sribharat Mathukumilli emphasized the institution's commitment to providing excellent healthcare training and reaching underserved communities.
Sanjay Zodpey, president of the Public Health Foundation of India,in his address said: “The persistent disparities in healthcare based on socioeconomic status, geography, and gender in our nation.”

GITAM vice-chancellor Dayananda Siddavattam encouraged the young doctors to engage in projects related to new drug discovery and push the boundaries of medical science further.
B Geetanjali, pro-vice chancellor of GIMSR, presided over the convocation ceremony and congratulated the graduates. SP Rao, the dean of GIMSR, reiterated the institution's founding ideology of delivering superior patient care at an affordable cost. Further, I Jyothi Padmaja, the principal of GIMSR Medical College highlighted the accomplishments of the institution's students, faculty, and staff.
