Government of Kerala approves setting up new IIITM-K campus
The construction of the IIITM-K campus is likely to be completed by the year 2025.

NEW DELHI: The Government of Kerala has approved the establishment of the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management- Kerala (IIITM-Kerala) today, on November 9, 2023.
The construction of the campus is expected to be completed by 2025 at an estimated cost of Rs 109.60 Cr.

IIITM- K, situated at the Technopark campus, in Kerala, was an autonomous academic institution set up by Government of Kerala in the year 2000. It offered postgraduate courses in IT and computer science. Later, the IIITM-K, Thiruvananthapuram, was upgraded as the state's digital university.

The vision behind setting up a digital university was to catalyse the growth of digital research and entrepreneurship while strengthening the collaboration between industries and technology-based education.
The digital university focused on advance technologies such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, block chain, cognitive science, internet of things, augmented and virtual reality, and so on.
Five schools were set up under the digital university initially. The schools can be grouped into the schools of computing, electronics design and automation, informatics, digital bioscience, and digital humanities.
