Gujarat govt announces major changes in GSEB Class 10, 12 board exam pattern

NEW DELHI: The Gujarat state government announced changes to the class 10 and 12 board exams 2024 following a meeting presided over by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and attended by Education Minister Kuber Dindor and senior officials.

The changes have been introduced in the GSEB Class 10, 12 examination patterns considering the National Education Policy 2020.

One of the significant changes mentioned by the Gujarat board is the increase of 10% in objective questions; from 20% to 30%. However, the percentage of descriptive questions dropped from 30% to 20%.

Additionally, Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) class 12 science students have the option of taking one or all of the supplemental exams (held from June to July) in order to enhance their performance. Among these, the best of the two will be considered by the board.

Students in the general stream in class 12 have the option of taking two courses in a compartment exam rather than just one.

A total of 50% of the MCQs from the science stream of the GSEB Class 12 exam have been retained. The remaining 50 percent descriptive questions will remain unchanged. Students will no longer have internal choices. Instead, students will be given choices and general options with the question paper.

Meanwhile, the board has issued the GSEB Class 10, 12 board exam dates 2024. According to the Gujarat Board datesheet 2024, the Class 12 science stream and Class 10 exams will be administered from March 11 to March 26, 2024.
