Himachal Rains: HPPSC postpones HPAS prelims exam to August 20 amid rain disruption

Himachal Weather: HPPSC rescheduled the administrative service competitive exam 2023 due to the widespread damage to the roads, incessant rainfall.
NEW DELHI: The Himachal Pradesh has been worst-hit by the recent rainfall. Taking stock of the situation, the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has postponed the HP Administrative Service Competitive-preliminary exam 2023.
In the wake of the bad weather and the damage-caused by the torrential rains, the HP education department has directed all government schools to shut down till July 15.
HPPSC had announced to hold the HPPSC HPAS-prelims exam 2023 on July 23, however, the examination has been postponed to August 20.
“Consequent upon widespread damage to the roads caused due to unprecedented rains and in view of bad weather, the Commission has decided to re-schedule the said examination. Therefore, it is for the information of all concerned that now the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service Competitive (Preliminary) Examination-2023 will be held on 20th August, 2023,” the official statement read.

The HPAS exam is conducted for recruitment to various posts in different departments of Government of Himachal Pradesh. Through the recruitment exam, vacancies in post such as Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HPAS) and other posts such as tehsildar, block development officer and treasury officer, Himachal Pradesh Police Service, district controller, class- I (Gazetted) in the department of food civil supplies and consumer affairs, will be filled.
The state education department has issued an order stating all government schools will be closed till July 15. The state public service commission has rescheduled the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service Competitive (Preliminary) Examination to August 20 in the wake of the bad weather.
The state chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced Rs 1 lakh to all the affected families. The PTI reported that 31 people have been killed in three days in landslides and floods which blocked nearly 1,300 roads and damaged 40 major bridges.
