NEW DELHI: Choosing a right business school and programme can be critical but Nazia Sultana, head of finishing school, Global Institute of Business Studies (GIBS) said that the key to choosing the right B-school is to check if the college has a relevant curriculum, industry exposure, practical experience and extracurricular activities.
GIBS conducted a webinar on January 28, 2022, on the topic "How GIBS is Redefining the Standards of Business Education". Ritesh Goyal, managing director, Lakshmi RB, assistant dean, Sowmya Prasad, head of placements, Nazia Sultana, head of Finishing School and Soumya M, COE and Tech Head participated in the GIBS webinar.

Nazia Sultana said that for management students it is important that they become confident in their language skills. Explaining why communication skill is important for management students, she said that after Covid-19 pandemic hit the country, the industries have started using virtual mode to connect with partners and customers. Therefore, it is important for students to develop the skills sets needed as per the current industry demands.
Sultana said that the B-schools should give proper skill enhancement training such as career guidance, debates, case studies, aptitude tests etc, for students to secure a better job.
“The GIBS Finishing School has four levels which help the students to improve their communication skills. Each level equips the students to become comfortable with the language skills so that they are able to articulate their thoughts,” Nazia Sultana added.

On the responsibility of teachers in management school, Soumya M said, “As a faculty it is our duty and responsibility not only to mold a student with respect to subject knowledge but also to guide them to choose a right career path.”
GIBS, Bangalore offers two courses - Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM).
