ICSI opens first international ADR centre in Noida

NEW DELHI: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) established its first international ADR centre in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The centre aims to promote Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods including mediation, conciliation and arbitration to assist and educate all sections of society, individuals, corporations, firms, and institutions.

The ICSI international ADR centre was inaugurated by the former Chief Justice of India, Justice P Sathasivam, at ICSI House. The institute said that the ADR centre is a state-of-the-art facility with world-class infrastructure, an advanced video conferencing facility, top-notch administrative facilities, etc.

Speaking at the event, Justice Sathasivam, said: “ADR methods are beneficial to the parties due to low cost, time-saving, the autonomy of parties, comfortable environment and being non-adversarial.”

“As a section 8 company, the centre has been set up to promote ADR methods of mediation, conciliation and arbitration. Besides, assisting and educating the masses, the Centre will provide all kinds of ADR services including the training required for it,” he added.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the president of ICSI, CS B Narasimhan, said, "The International ADR Centre is ICSI’s attempt to support the nation’s judicial ecosystem and strengthen the overall governance ecosystem in the process. The ICSI plans to open more such centres across the country".

During the inauguration ceremony of the ICSI international ADR Centre, former judicial member of the national company law tribunal, Pundla Bhaskara Mohan; retired IAS, Bhamathi Balasubramaniam, and other members of the governing council of the ICSI ADR centre were also present.
