IGNOU celebrates its 38th foundation day; Vinai Kumar Saxena joins as chief guest

NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) celebrated its 38th foundation day today, on November 19 at its headquarters in Maidan Garhi. Vinai Kumar Saxena, the lieutenant governor of Delhi, was present as the chief guest of the event.
Saxena appreciated IGNOU for adopting the inclusivity principles defined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He highlighted IGNOU's key role in democratising higher education and supporting India's goal to become the world's third-largest economy by cultivating a capable and skilled workforce.
He highlighted the importance of the National Education Policy 2020, emphasized its transformational aspect and connection with global agendas, specifically the UN Sustainable Development Goals-2030. Saxena praised IGNOU's ability to handle educational challenges through new ways, and urged the institution to capitalise on emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, and Virtual Reality in order to attain global standards.

In his speech, Saxena also underscored the need of student upskilling, vocational education, and a balanced focus on both academic and extracurricular activities for overall student development.
IGNOU is all set to conduct the TEE December 2023 exam. According to the official date sheet announced on November 8, the IGNOU TEE test will begin on December 1, 2023, and conclude on January 1, 2024. There will be two shifts for the examination: a morning session from 10 am to 1 pm and an afternoon session from 2 pm to 5 pm. The IGNOU TEE 2023 admit card for the December exam has been issued, candidates who have registered for the exam can download the admit card from the IGNOU official website at ignou.ac.in.
