NEW DELHI: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the 35th convocation event at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was a huge confidence booster and compared the IGNOU university to the mythical character "Lord Hanuman" from Ramayana, who was unaware of the powers he possessed, for taking education to the remort parts of the country, to the poorest. He said that the work of IGNOU professors has to be celebrated.

"Today’s convocation at @OfficialIGNOU is a big confidence booster. It reflects the immense possibilities of the innovative pedagogy of the university. IGNOU has emerged as modern day Lord Hanuman in taking education and learning to the remotest corners and to the poorest," he said in a tweet.

Pradhan also wished more than 2.91 lakh students who received their PhD, MPhil, degree, diploma certificates, and gold medals for their performance at the IGNOU convocation 2022 event.
