NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will host its 36th convocation on April 3, 2023. The convocation, in its thirty-sixth edition, will award degrees, certificates and diplomas to the students who have completed their programme of study in December 2021 and June 2022 term-end examinations. Registration for the IGNOU convocation is underway and candidates can register online at onlineservices.ignou.ac.in/convocation.
The open university will distribute degrees in digital form through blockchain technology. Blockchain-supported distribution of degrees, IGNOU said, will ensure faster submission and authentication of degrees through DigiLocker.
Students will also have the option to attend the convocation in person or receive their degree and diploma by post. The students will be required to attend the convocation and collect the certificate at their regional centres where they belong and not at any other regional centre.
All the students must fill the present address at which they want to receive their degree, diploma or certificate during the online registration.
In case, IGNOU in the official website says, the convocation is not held at the regional centre due to any circumstances where the student belongs, the student will then have to attend the convocation at other nearby regional centres which may be mostly in the same state or nearby state.
“Otherwise his/her Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate will be sent to his/her address by post. Intimation in this regard will be issued later on,” it added.
For students, who are not invited to attend the convocation or could not attend the convocation even after submission of the requisite fee, their degree and diploma will be sent by post by the concerned regional centre after the convocation and in case of PG certificate or certificate programmes, certificates will be sent by headquarters. Such students should therefore contact their concerned Regional Centre, where they belong to/Headquarters, as the case may be, IGNOU said.
