IGNOU introduces certificate course in gender, agriculture and sustainable development

The last date to apply for six months IGNOU CGAS programme is March 15.

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a certificate programme in Gender, Agriculture and Sustainable Development (CGAS) through open distance learning (ODL) mode.

Interested candidates who wish to take admission to the CGAS programme for January 2021 session can fill the IGNOU registration form by March 15.

The duration of the certificate programme is six months. It will be offered under the School of Gender and Development Studies, IGNOU.

The medium of instruction will be English and students who have completed a bachelor’s degree programme are eligible for admission to the certificate programme.

The aim of the programme is to create awareness about gender roles and typology of issues in sustainable agriculture. It aims to provide knowledge on sustainable development in relation to gender and agriculture and build capacities in gender research in agriculture.

“Changing the policy maker’s mindset, government functionaries, extension workers, researchers, and students is a need of an hour. This ODL programme on 'Gender, Agriculture and Sustainable Development will address above mentioned issues to create awareness among all stakeholders,” IGNOU in its release said.
