NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched the Master of Arts in Sustainability Science (MASS) programme in online mode. The eligibility for admission to the programme is graduation in any discipline.
Anil Kumar Rai, joint secretary (Parliament and Coordination), Ministry of External Affairs and Professor Nageshwar Rao, vice chancellor, IGNOU launched the online learning management system portal of MASS.

Professor Shachi Shah, director, School of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies welcomed the experts in the launching ceremony and highlighted the significance of the programme in her welcome address. Shah reiterated that MASS is IGNOU's unique initiative for capacity building and knowledge development in India’s commitment to sustainable development goals, mainstreaming sustainable development goals education under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and internationalising efforts in the field of sustainability science.
Rai, in his ceremonial address, appreciated IGNOU's initiative by offering this online MA in Sustainability Science programme, which is open to all age groups and from any educational stream, will help in a lifelong learning exercise where everyone should contribute to realising the goals of Agenda 2030. He said that the orogramme is extremely pertinent at this point when India has recently taken the Chairmanship of G20 and taken lead in Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

Rao stated that by launching the MASS programme online, IGNOU is taking the right path in sustainable development education and enables India's commitment to sustainable development goals.
