IGNOU to provide training to Navodaya Vidyalaya teachers

IGNOU’s School of Education will launch six-month certificate programmes on professional development for JNV teachers

NEW DELHI: The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, which runs the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), has entered into an agreement with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to provide six-month certificate programmes to train JNV teachers.

The programmes will be launched by the School of Education at IGNOU and the participating teachers will receive certificates upon completion. IGNOU said that the training programme will allow “teachers to work more efficiently to strengthen social-emotional learning of their students and facilitate their career choices”.

Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU said that the University shall deliver a high quality training to its teachers by integrating technology to the content delivery, according to a statement by IGNOU.

The Commissioner of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti ,Shri Vinayak Garg, speaking at the event, said that "the training of teachers should lead to a visible qualitative change in our unique residential schooling system".
