IIIT Bangalore invites applications for PhD, MS by Research programmes

IIIT Bangalore will offer fellowships of Rs 20,000 per month to MS students and Rs 38,500 to PhD students.

NEW DELHI: The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT Bangalore) has invited applications for its PhD and MS by Research programmes. Interested candidates can apply through the official website of the institute.

For PhD, a candidate must hold a master's degree (or equivalent) with a strong academic and, where applicable, technical track record. In line with the University Grants Commission (UGC)’s admission criteria, candidates are required to pass either a relevant national entrance test or a domain-specific entrance examination conducted by IIIT-Bangalore, followed by an interview.

IIIT-Bangalore is seeking applications for research in the following centres:

  • E-Health Research Centre (EHRC)
  • Machine Intelligence and Robotics (MINRO) Centre
  • Centre of Internet and Ethical Things (CIET)
  • Center for Technology Research and Innovation - Digital Governance (CTRI-DG)

IIIT Bangalore will offer a fellowship of Rs 20,000 per month to full-time MS by Research students and a fellowship of Rs 38,500 to full-time PhD students till the completion. After that, for the remaining two years, a stipend of Rs 43,500 will be provided.

The PhD programme involves three to five years of intensive study wherein students will deliver an original research project and dissertation defense. Candidates will have the flexibility to enroll as full-time or part-time students.

The MS by Research is a four-semester programme made for students seeking a supportive academic environment to up their research skills. The programme focuses on developing advanced research capabilities, leading to a master's thesis showing significant original results. Many MS Research students are working professionals sponsored by their employers, including research scientists from reputed organizations and government bodies. This programme is only available for full-time applicants.
