IIIT-Delhi announces scholarships for admission to BTech programme

NEW DELHI: The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-D) announced scholarships and admissions to its Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes for the academic year 2024-2025. The institute offers several scholarship opportunities to support aspiring students in pursuing their BTech education.

The chairman's scholarship offers full or partial scholarships to students based on their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main ranks. As per the institute, students ranked below 1000 are eligible for a full (100%) scholarship, while those ranked between 1000 and 2000 receive a 50% scholarship on tuition fees.

The Women Empowerment Scholarship in STEAM Education (WESSE) provides financial aid to top female students in their Class 12 board exams. According to this scholarship, 50% of the tuition fee will be awarded to female students ranking among the top 100 in their Class 12 board exams with over 95% aggregate score.

The institute further offers the IIIT-Delhi merit cum means scholarship to students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years who are beneficiaries of the National Food Security Scheme. According to the official press release, IIIT-D has collaborated with Fast Retailing Japan for the fast-retailing sponsorship programme.

Sponsored students under this programme receive complete tuition and dormitory fees throughout their BTech course. They also have access to Japanese language and culture classes, summer internships at Uniqlo India, and potential full-time job offers at Fast Retailing Japan, the institute said.

The institute offers BTech programmes in several specialisations, such as Computer Science and Applied Mathematics (CSAM), Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI), Computer Science and Biosciences (CSB), Computer Science and Design (CSD), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Computer Science and Social Sciences (CSSS), Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), and Electronics and VLSI Engineering (EVE).

IIIT-Delhi: Admissions criteria

Candidates can check the admission criteria for admission to the BTech programme in IIIT Delhi given below.

• Students seeking admission to IIIT-D can apply based on their performance in national-level entrance examinations like JEE (Main) and other criteria set by the institute. As per the institute, the admissions for all BTech programmes are currently open through Joint Admission Counselling (JAC-Delhi), with selection criteria primarily focusing on JEE Main ranks.
• Candidates can apply for the Computer Science and Design (CSD) programme using the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). UCEED serves as a platform to identify students interested in design, offering candidates from Delhi an alternative pathway to gain admission to the CSD program.
• The institute informed that the application deadline for all programmes through the JAC Delhi admission mode is June 23, 2024, and the application deadline for CSD, CSSS programmes through the IIIT-Delhi admission mode is June 20, 2024.
• Candidates from non-science backgrounds with a focus on mathematics have the opportunity to pursue a BTech in Computer Science and Social Sciences (CSSS). This programme is aligned with the NEP 2020's emphasis on multidisciplinary education.
• The institute will also offer admission to students who have achievements in olympiads, Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), sports, cultural activities, innovation, and exceptional performance in Class 12.
