IIIT-Delhi opens M.Tech and PhD admissions for 2026–27 academic session

IIIT-Delhi begins M.Tech and PhD admissions for 2026–27. Apply online by April 13 for M.Tech and April 8 for PhD programmes.

Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi has announced admissions for its postgraduate and doctoral programmes for the 2026–27 academic session, opening doors for students looking to build careers in advanced technology and research. Applications for M.Tech. programmes and Ph.D. admissions are already in progress.

The institute said its M.Tech. programmes are designed to help students strengthen both their technical foundation and research skills in areas that are highly relevant to today’s industry. Interested candidates can apply online, with the last date for M.Tech. applications set as April 13, 2026.

Meanwhile, applications for the Ph.D. programmes must be submitted by April 8, 2026. The doctoral programmes are aimed at students who want to pursue in-depth research across a range of disciplines.

IIIT Delhi: Diverse courses across emerging fields

IIIT-Delhi is offering a wide variety of M.Tech. specialisations. In computer science and engineering, students can choose from areas such as artificial intelligence, data engineering, and information security & mobile computing, along with a research-focused CSE track. The institute is also offering programmes in electronics and communication engineering, with specialisations including VLSI & embedded systems, communications, and machine learning. Additionally, there is an M.Tech. in computational biology.

For Ph.D. aspirants, research opportunities are available in computer science, electronics and communication engineering, computational biology, human-centred design, mathematics, and social sciences and humanities.

Speaking about the programmes, Sumit J Darak, dean of academic affairs, said they are designed to combine academic learning with practical exposure. He highlighted the focus on interdisciplinary learning, hands-on experience, and opportunities for industry internships.

He further added, “With a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary learning, a research-driven curriculum, and opportunities for industry internships, the programmes enable students to continuously learn and adapt, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to the rapidly evolving world of technology.”
