IIM Ahmedabad launches IT mangement programme for senior professionals

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has launched a new programme ‘Information Technology Management for Strategic Business Leadership (ITMSBL)’. The IIM Ahmedabad’s newly launched management programmes is aimed at preparing IT professionals for leadership roles such as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
As per the official IIM Ahmedabad statement, the IT MBA programme is marketed by Jaro Education and seeks to bridge the gap between technology expertise and business strategy.
IIM Ahmedabad's IT MBA Programme: Registration and fee details
IIM Ahmedabad has opened applications for its IT management programme. The registration deadline is April 29. As per IIM Ahmedabad’s press release, the registration fee is Rs 2,000 plus GST. The total programme fee, excluding the application fee, is Rs 4,00,000 plus GST. The IIM Ahmedabad's newly launched IT MBA programme will commence on May 10. The technical orientation is scheduled for May 7.
Programme structure and features
The six-month ITMSBL programme at IIMA aims to provide IT professionals with strategic leadership skills in business strategy, financial planning, marketing, and organisational change management. It employs a blended learning approach with weekly online sessions and two on-campus modules at IIM Ahmedabad .
Participants will receive a certificate of completion from IIMA upon fulfilling the programme requirements, which include achieving at least 80% attendance. The IIM-A IT management programme curriculum includes live interactive sessions, case study-based learning, networking opportunities, and immersive campus experiences.

IM-A's IT MBA Programme: Eligibility criteria
As per the eligibility criteria, candidates are required to have a minimum of 60% marks in their undergraduate or postgraduate degree and hold senior roles at the time of application.
The programme is designed for professionals from various sectors, including public sector units, banks, government organisations, and private enterprises. It caters to:
- Senior professionals at CXO levels, such as CIOs, CTOs, chief digital officers, and heads of digital transformation.
- Mid to senior-level professionals preparing for leadership roles, including technical heads, general managers, and senior consultants.
IIM Ahmedabad's press release cited a report by The Economic Times , stating that recruitment firm Michael Page observed a 27% rise in demand for CTOs in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year. Additionally, the Global Capability Centres (GCC) market is projected to grow from $64.6 billion in 2024 to $105 billion by 2030, according to Reuters .
