IIM Jammu inaugurates trekking based management development programme for NTPC leaders

IIM Jammu’s trekking based MDP is being held from February 24 to 26 and is designed to improve the leadership skills of NTPC leaders through experiential learning.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu inaugurated a trekking-based management development programme (MDP) for NTPC leaders under the leadership of director BS Sahay. The programme was inaugurated today in Prahalad Classroom at IIM Jammu.

The leadership programme is being held from February 24 to 26 and is designed to improve leadership skills through experiential learning in the lower Himalayas. The programme includes seven sessions aiming to foster personal and professional growth. The batch included 49 participants from across the country.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Jabir Ali the dean academics at IIM Jammu, Nitin Upadhyay the programme director, Ateeque Shaikh the chairperson and executive education and consultancy (EE &C) at IIM Jammu and Chinmaya K Swain the programme director at IIM Jammu.

Jabir Ali the dean academics at IIM Jammu emphasized that NTPC is the pride of India and plays an important role in shaping the country’s future. He highlighted the programme serves as a platform to connect, collaborate, and envision the future together.

“He noted that while IIM Jammu brings academic expertise, NTPC professionals contribute practical knowledge, creating an opportunity for synergy and co-creation,” the IIM Jammu statement said.

The programme director at IIM Jammu Nitin Upadhyay highlights the potential of human capacity. While quoting Mark Twain he said: “That the two most important days in life are the day one is born and the day one discovers why,”

Ateeque Shaikh the chairperson of EE&C, IIM Jammu, welcomed participants and highlighting the programme’s uniqueness. He also encouraged participants to maximise their learning experience while enjoying the lush green IIM Jammu campus.

“The programme includes field-based experiential learning activities such as trekking in the Himalayas, empowering leadership, team building, sustainability and good governance, conflict resolution, negotiating solutions, intrapreneurship skills, strategic thinking, mastering communication for leadership, and digital transformation,” the IIM Jammu statement adds.

Through such initiatives, IIM Jammu aims to reaffirm its role in shaping leaders who can contribute to the industry. The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by the programme director of IIM Jammu followed by the National Anthem.
