NEW DELHI: The Students Federation of India (SFI) Delhi state committee seeks immediate action against ABVP goons who attacked students of South Asian University (SAU) in the university’s mess. As per the SFI statement, ABVP goons attacked students as they were not complying with the ABVP’s undemocratic demand of non-veg being served in the University owing to Maha Shivratri.
SFI Delhi has demanded strict actions against the ABVP goons by the SAU authorities’ and they should be stopped immediately before they unleash more violence on the university’s campus towards students who resisted their attack. As per the SFI, the university’s mess is a common place for all students, and imposing such dietary restrictions is an unsecular and undemocratic move.
“University mess is a common place of all students and imposition of the dietary practices of any one community on the larger student community is undemocratic and unsecular,” the SFI statement added.
“Showing their cowardice, anti-women attitude and sheer hooliganism ABVP attacked women students in SAU. We condemn the ABVP's actions in the most fierce terms and extend solidarity to the courageous students of SAU.” SFI posted on the official X (formerly Twitter) account.

In a video circulating online, ABVP goons are seen attacking students in the university’s mess. The goons are seen attacking a women student in the video and are manhandling other students. They also attacked the staff of the mess for serving the non-veg food. Such attacks on students have no place on university campuses that are democratic, secular, and safe spaces for education.
“ABVP goons are seen on video manhandling and attacking students in the mess. The goons grabbed the hair of women students and dragged them violently during the attack. They also attacked the mess staff for serving non-veg food,” the SFI statement read.
