IIM Bangalore Golden Jubilee: India Post releases commemorative special postal cover

The commemorative postal cover has been designed by IIM Bangalore along with India Post.

NEW DELHI: To mark the golden jubilee of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), India Post has issued a commemorative special postal cover during the institute’s 48th convocation celebrations today.

The commemorative postal cover has been designed by IIM Bangalore along with India Post. Some of the special covers have a cancellation mark and will be part of the collectors’ items in philatelic clubs of India.

In his address, Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, chairperson, board of governors, IIM Bangalore said, “It is important for the country to know that IIMB is stepping into its 50th year. It is due to the vision of the founders that IIMB has evolved into one of the greatest management institutes shaping the future of India. It is fitting that a special cover has been released by India Post to mark the launch of the Institute’s Golden Jubilee Year.”

The special postal cover was released by Kaiya Arora, IPoS, director of postal services (HQ), Karnataka circle, and handed over to Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, chairperson, board of governors, IIM Bangalore, and Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, director, IIM Bangalore, in the presence of senior faculty members of IIM Banaglore including Professor Rajendra K Bandi, dean, administration; professor Abhoy K Ojha, head, golden jubilee committee of IIM Bangalore; professor Sourav Mukherji, dean, alumni relations and development; professor Rahul Dé, dean, programmes; professor Ananth Krishnamurthy, chairperson of the PhD programme; professor G Sabarinathan of the finance and accounting area, professor Haritha Saranga, faculty from the production and operations management area, as well as students and staff of IIM Bangalore.

Professor RT Krishnan said, “The launch of the special cover here today is the first of many activities planned for the Golden Jubilee year of IIMB.”

Kaiya Arora hailed IIM Bangalore for being among the premier management schools in the world with acclaimed faculty, talented students and state-of-the-art facilities.

“Quality education is the driver to reach competitive ability, which leads to economic progress. The Department of Posts also works with the Government of India to take the county, especially the marginalized, along the path of economic development, through Direct Benefit Transfers (DBTs), leveraging its vast network. Profit is not our driving force, service is,” she said.
