IIM Ahmedabad successfully conducted the CAT 2021 exam today at more than 400 test centres across 159 cities of the country. CAT exam was held in three different shifts i.e. 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, and 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Last year there were a total of 76 questions asked in the CAT exam and the total number of marks was 228. But this time number of questions was reduced to 66 so the total marks for CAT 2021 are 198.

CAT scores are the actual marks a student obtains in the CAT exam. This is calculated as per CAT 2021 exam pattern and marking scheme. This is the sum of total marks obtained in all sections.

CAT percentile is the relative performance of all those candidates who appeared for CAT 2021. The marks obtained in CAT exam are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0. CAT percentile scores are normalized for each section and then to compute the overall CAT percentile scores also.

CAT 2021 answer key will be released in the first week of December. As per the IIM MBA admission criteria, it is a must to appear for CAT and clear the entrance test with a decent percentile to get a call from IIMs. All the 20 IIMs offer admission to their flagship MBA program. Overall the exam was Doable and not very tough when compared to 2020. VARC was more inference based, but had Reading comprehension passages all from the predicted Topics. DILR was Moderate in difficulty terms but felt a little Time consuming and lengthy.

The CAT 2021 pattern of slot 3 was the same as the previous ones. Around 15 questions were non-MCQs, while the remaining CAT questions were MCQs. 

The CAT cutoff for IIM is normally in the range of 99 to 100 percentile for General category students. For the reserved category students who appeared in CAT, the cutoff of the CAT 2021 exam is slightly lower, generally at 97 to 98 percentile.

CAT 2021 Slot 3 did not throw any major surprises as compared to CAT 2021 Slot 1. The element of ambiguity regarding the number of questions was resolved in CAT 2021 Slot 1 itself. The CAT 2021 Slot 3 pattern continued to be along the same lines as the morning slot with 66 questions in total to be solved in 2 hours with 40 minutes allotted to each section.

As per some of the candidates who appeared in the CAT 2021 slot 3 exam, one of the questions was the same as that of CAT slot 2. The QA question was the algebra one that was found repeated:

IIM Ahmedabad will release the official CAT answer key tentatively in the first week of December, in the format of an individual CAT response sheet. Candidates will get to know what are the responses that they have given in CAT 2021 and they will get an opportunity to challenge it within the specified time period. CAT answer key 2021 will be provided to all the candidates who appeared in 3 different slots. The answer key of CAT 2021 will be available online on iimcat.ac.in. However, some institutes may release CAT 2021 answer key before the official one. But one should wait for the official CAT answer key to know their exact probable score as unofficial answer keys are prepared as per students' feedback.

CAT 2021 Slot 3 has concluded. No surprises were there in the number of questions. It remained the same as CAT Slot 1 and CAT Slot 2. The distribution of questions along with, the difficulty level is as follows:

After the conclusion of CAT 2021 exam, coaching institutes may release the unofficial CAT answer key. • VARC was more inference based with Reading comprehension topics coming from the always recommended reads from Aeon, CATKing e-Books "Philosophy - Truth and Power", "History- British Colonies and how India reacted"; " Languages, Linguistic", " Knowledge how you perceive it"

Overall it had 66 Questions and I am proud this is what I had predicted and our students gave 6 practice mocks of total 66 questions in last 2 months CAT 2021 tested students not on Speed but Logic and Analytical skills, a sincere student with well rounded preparation of concepts and a good practice of mocks would make their way to the IIMs . As per the candidates, CAT DILR was doable. There were 2 sets of 4 questions each and the other 2 sets of 6 questions each. One of the DI sets was doable.

As per Varun (CAT aspirant) took first slot said- It was my first attempt and it went quite well. Englisgh section was moderate and DILR was quite time consuming. Quantitative Aptitude section was bit long and time consuming as well. As per me VARC waq easy and DILR & Quant was difficult. VARC has 24 questions and rest two sections had 20 questions each.

CAT Dress Code: Candidates appearing for CAT exam 2021 today must follow the below mentioned dress code:
