Indian Institute of Management Lucknow: The Gen-Z post office offers modern postal services to its students with real-time tracking of shipments and QR code-based transactions.

Uttar Pradesh's first Gen-Z post office has been inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow campus to modernise postal services for young users and digital natives. The initiative aims to redesign Indian postal services by integrating technology-driven solutions tailored to the preferences of the students.
The inauguration was attended by MP Gupta, the director of IIM Lucknow, Pranav Kumar the chief postmaster General, UP circle, and Sunil Kumar Rai the postmaster General, HQ region, Lucknow.
“The launch of the Gen-Z post office at IIM Lucknow is part of a broader initiative by India Post to reimagine and create modern, interactive postal services across the country that better serve younger generations while preserving the legacy of India’s postal network,” the official IIM Lucknow statement said.

According to the official IIM Lucknow press release, the post office is designed as a youth-friendly centre with an advanced technological facility. The Gen-Z post office offers:
“Although letters were once the primary means of communication, modern technology and monitoring systems can now make postal services even more efficient, and this 'Gen-Z' post office would greatly benefit the IIM Lucknow community,” IIM Lucknow’s director, MP Gupta said.
One of the key features of the new facility is the packers and movers service offered exclusively to IIM Lucknow students. Through this service, students can transport their belongings from the hostels to their homes after completing their studies, at approximately half the price charged by private operators.
The chief postmaster general of UP circle, Pranav Kumar said that the Gen-Z post office is designed to attract young users and provide them with a modern postal experience. He further added that the participation of young people is also being encouraged in the design process to help shape the post offices of the future.

Uttar Pradesh currently has 125 post offices, with campuses at Lucknow University, Sainik School, Sarojini Nagar, and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, also designated as Gen-Z post offices.
