IIM Udaipur: Ashok Banerjee assumes charge as new director

IIMU: Ashok Banerjee is a chartered accountant who served as the dean and professor at IIM Calcutta's finance and control group.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Udaipur has appointed IIM Calcutta faculty, professor Ashok Banerjee, as its new director. Banerjee took over the charge as IIM Udaipur director today. on August 1, 2022, by succeeding Janat Shah, who served as IIM Udaipur director since its inception in 2011.
Banerjee is a chartered accountant who served as the dean and professor at IIM Calcutta's f inance and control group. He graduates with an MCom degree from Calcutta University and a PhD from Rajasthan University. His research interests are in high-frequency finance, fintech, and sentiment analysis. Before working with IIM Calcutta, he also served as a professor at IIM Lucknow. Banerjee got appointed as Shah completed his second term as the director of IIM Udaipur . "Under Prof Shah’s dynamic and visionary leadership, IIM Udaipur has emerged as a globally ranked and accredited institute," said a statement from IIM Udaipur.
According to IIM Udaipur, it was the fourth IIM and youngest B-School to get either ACCSB or EQUIS accreditation and was the third IIM to be ranked in the FT Global top 100 MIM rankings for the third consecutive year in 2021. IIM Udaipur was also the youngest B-School in the World and the seventh IIM to be featured in the QS 2022 MIM world rankings 2022. The institute was also ranked fourth in India in Research as per UT Dallas research ranking methodology. In the past few years, IIM Udaipur had set up a consumer culture lab, centres of excellence in global supply chain management, digital enterprise management, and healthcare.
