IIT Bombay hosts 56th edition of inter-IIT sports meet

NEW DELHI: Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Bombay is hosting the 56th inter-IIT sports meet. The 56th edition of inter-IIT sports meet is scheduled from December 10 to December 15. The event is jointly hosted by IIT Bombay and IIT Gandhinagar.

Venkatesh Prasad, former Indian cricketer, coach was presented at the event as the chief guest. The ceremony began with a march past by representatives from all 23 IITs, demonstrating togetherness, sportsmanship, and a healthy competitive spirit.

The event started amid a lively cultural backdrop, with a blend of traditional and cultural performances demonstrating the essence of India's diversity.

Venkatesh Prasad addressed the crowd, expressing his admiration for the IIT community's devotion and enthusiasm. He emphasised the value of sports in character development and collaboration, motivating the participants to strive for perfection.

The 56th edition of inter-IIT sports meet includes a variety of sports competitions and cultural activities in the upcoming schedule, promising a stimulating week of competition and bonding for both competitors and spectators.

According to the IIT Bombay press release, the inter-IIT sports meet promises to be a celebration of athleticism, intellect, and unity mirroring the spirit of excellence that distinguishes the IIT community.

In 2022, the 55th edition of inter-IIT sports meet was jointly hosted by IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee. The inter IIT sports meet is the IIT's annual inter-collegiate sports event. It was first hosted in 1961.
