NEW DELHI: Over 13 lakh candidates are competing this year for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other top engineering colleges in India. The results for the JEE Mains 2025 session 1 exams will be declared in another four days on February 12 at the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Those candidates who obtain a JEE Main rank in the top 250000 will be considered eligible to appear for JEE Advanced exam 2025 to be held by IIT Kanpur on May 18.
As per the JEE Main overall exam analysis for January session, students found the question paper moderately difficult compared to the previous year’s question paper. The mathematics section was rated ‘hard’, followed by physics and chemistry. The toughest shift in session 1 exam was JEE Mains January 28 shift 1.
The JEE Main question paper 2025 had more theory-based questions and fewer assertion and reason-type questions. Although physics was easy compared to mathematics, students found it ‘tough and challenging’ on January 28 exams. Students also claimed that there are many direct questions from the NCERT textbooks.

The NTA will announce the category-wise number of candidates who scored the minimum JEE Main percentile in BE, BTech paper 1 for JEE Advanced exam soon. As per last year’s JEE Mains results, the JEE Main cut-offs and number of students who qualified the exam is given below.

Here’s the lowest JEE Main score vs percentile for candidates who did not perform well in JEE Main session 1 exams. They will also be eligible to participate in JEE Main April session 2 exams for which the registrations are underway at the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Mains was held for a total of 300 marks.
1-10 marks in JEE Main 2025 - Those candidates obtaining 1 to 10 marks in the entrance exam are expected to be placed in 0.7-13 percentile range.
41-61 marks in JEE Mains 2025 - Candidates scoring marks in this range can expect 70 - 84 percentile in JEE.

As per last year’s results, candidates obtaining marks between 173 and 236 can expect a JEE Main percentile between 95 to 99. It is considered a good score in JEE Main 2025, especially for students aiming to appear in IIT JEE Advanced.
