IIT Delhi to host 52nd convocation tomorrow for over 2,000 graduates

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi will be hosting convocation 2021 tomorrow, November 13, for over 2,000 graduates. The chief guest of the 52nd convocation will be Padamashree Warrior, IIT Delhi alumna, founder and CEO of Fable. IIT Delhi alumnus Anant Yardi will be gifting $10 million to the institute, the official statement read.

Addressing the press conference, Shantanu Roy, dean, academics, IIT Delhi said, “This year has been challenging for various reasons and had to continue with online classes. However, in the second half of the year, things improved and campus is slowly getting to normal. We have invited all our graduates to join the convocation ceremony but we’ll conduct it at multiple venues in parallel because of the current situation.”

“288 students are graduating with the PhD degree, 843 students with a UG degree (BTech/ dual degree -BTech and MTech) , 986 will be graduating with other degrees including MBA, MSc, MA in Design, he added.

Addressing the media on the eve of the convocation, IIT Delhi director, Ramgopal Rao said, “Anant Yardi’s gift would enable IIT Delhi to create state of the art laboratories and attract talented students and researchers to this newly established School of Artifical Intelligence (ScAI).
