NEW DELHI: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) launched "Shiksha Bachao Desh Bachao” campaign opposing the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) on the National Education Day 2021. The students' union have also started sharing various issues faced by students on social media using hashtag #ShikshaBachaoDeshBachao.

NSUI national president Neeraj Kundan said the campaign is against NEP, privatization of education, unemployment, scams in NEET, JEE, SSC-CGL and other competitive exams, and lack of scholarships. He added that the new education policy aims to privatise the education sector.

Addressing the press conference, Neeraj Kundan proposed a two years age relaxation for the state and national-level examination.

He further said that the National Education Day, the birth anniversary of first education minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, was the best day to launch a campaign like this.

The NSUI in a tweet said, “New Education Policy is simply a political Vendetta by Modi Government, as it promotes privatization and centralization. Further it will diminish the Government educational institutions in near future!”

On unemployment, the NSUI said, “Survey reveals that 33% educated youth are unemployed due to lack of future skills. Unemployment high rates are directly synonymous with failed government policies. What happened to the promise of creating 1cr jobs? #ShikshaBachaoDeshBachao.”

In the press conference, Neeraj Kundan informed that the campaign will take place state-wise and will conclude the event in Delhi.

NSUI National Secretary in Hamirpur and State President of NSUI UP Central today addressed a press conference in the context of NSUI's nationwide "Save Education-Save Country" campaign in protest against the anti-student policies of the Modi government. #ShikshaBachaoDeshBachao.
