IIT Delhi opens registration for Summer Research Fellowship 2026 for top 10 BTech, MTech students

Download NowThe Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened registration for its Summer Research Fellowship Programme (SRFP) 2026. Eligible students can apply for the fellowship through the official website at oldacademics.iitd.ac.in by April 3.

The engineering institute’s fellowship programme is open for students from different engineering institutes (except IIT Delhi) who are within the top ten ranks in their respective branch, IIT Delhi wrote on its official X account.
Selected students will execute an innovative research and development project under the guidance of IIT Delhi’s faculty, and the fellowship work can be completed in a period of eight weeks, it added.

Notably, IIT Delhi’s fellowship SRFP 2026 will cover the cost of travel within the country. The fellowship is of Rs 2,000 per week. “Stay at IIT Delhi during the visit(s), including boarding and lodging in the Institute hostels,” the institute said.
As per the eligibility criteria, any UG student who has completed at least two years of engineering and is amongst top ten positions in the branch are eligible to apply for the SRFP 2026.
Moreover, students with MTech, ME background , who have completed 1st semester of study within top ten ranks, and obtained at least 70% marks or CGPA of 7.00 at the end of 1st semester are also eligible.
While the application window is open until April 3 up to 5 pm, the institute will declare the list of selected students by the first week of May 2026.

Students need to submit a set of documents to complete the registration for the fellowship. The list of documents is given below.
- Photograph with jpg format, 200*230 pixels, and maximum size 100kb.
- Consolidated Grade Card in PDF format.
- Rank Certificate in PDF format.
- No Objection Certificate in PDF format.
“The NOC should be from the parent institution stating the starting and ending date for carrying out full time research work at IIT Delhi under the fellowship programme,” IIT Delhi stated.
