IIT Delhi PG, PhD Admissions 2026: Interested candidates must submit a statement or self-declaration of their proficiency in English, along with name of two referees for recommendation letters.

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened the application window for admission to its PhD and PG programmes for foreign national students. Eligible candidates can apply for the PhD, PG courses for the academic years 2026-27 through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.
The engineering institute’s admission portal for foreign national candidates will be open until March 30, 2026, up to 4 pm.
As per the eligible criteria, non-Indian nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards are eligible to apply for IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programmes.
Interested candidates will have to submit a statement or self-declaration of their proficiency in English, along with names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters, as per the official website.

“The referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s overall aptitude, proficiency in chosen field, potential for research and independent thinking and proficiency in oral and written English” the notification reads.
In addition, candidates may also have to submit their Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scores to be eligible for PhD and PG programme at IIT Delhi.
The admission requirement also includes scores from international examinations such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE), and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
The engineering institute will provide admission on the basis of performance in the interview. “Candidates with a strong academic record will be invited for an interview with a committee comprising faculty members of the relevant discipline,” it said.
They will also have to submit scores in English language proficiency tests, such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination or any other language test.
