IIT Gandhinagar alumni donate Rs 70 lakh to the institute in the financial year 2022-23

Nearly 55% alumni of the institute have made the contribution. The institute has achieved more than 50% alumni donors for fourth consecutive year.

NEW DELHI: 54.87 percent alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar have contributed Rs 70 lakh in total to the institute in the year 2022-23. A statement from the institute said that 81 percent of the alumni, who recently graduated from the institute, have made contributions to the institute.

As many as 1,723 alumni have donated Rs 70 lakh to the institute, the statement released by IIT Gandhinagar said. The alumni have funded various student welfare initiatives such as international internships, student financial assistance and entrepreneurship. Adding to this, contributions have also been made by the alumni for campus activities such as sports, cultural and tech festivals. The undergraduate and postgraduate alumni share an equal proportion of donors, the official notification released by the institute read.

Kratika Bhagtani, an alumnus of the institute from the Class of 2020 said: "The flexible academic environment gave me the freedom to learn and explore. It played a crucial role in shaping my career and personality. I like to give it back to IIT Gandhinagar, to the best of my ability, as an expression of gratitude for helping me to reach where I am today".

Professor-in-charge at the Alumni relations of IIT Gandhinagar Jaison A Manjaly said: "Alumni network is an important source of support for any educational institution. Such affection by our young alumni is heartening. At the same time, it is also a testament to the strong network of the institute and their long-lasting friendship with the alma mater".

Institute officials said that the donation by the alumni of the institutes has been growing since the past few years. It has almost doubled up in the last three years, it added.
