IIT Guwahati, ICWA sign agreement to expand knowledge on international affairs, foreign policy

The agreement is the combined efforts to address the challenges and opportunities in the global arena and shared vision of One Earth, One Family, One Future.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati signed an agreement with the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) today, July 19. The agreement is made to build capacity and skills in international affairs and foreign policy.

With the objective to work together in pursuit of the goal of expanding awareness and knowledge on international affairs and Indian foreign policy, Professor Parameswar Krishnan Iyer, officiating director, IIT Guwahati and Vijay Thakur Singh, director-general, ICWA signed the agreement which will be valid for a period of three years.

Vice president of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is also the president of ICWA announced this collaboration during his address at the 25th Convocation of IIT Guwahati.This collaboration would give the institute a window to the world of a different nature", he stated.

Speaking during the event, Professor Parameswar Krishnan Iyer, said, "In today’s interconnected world, collaborative interventions in the areas of international affairs and promotion of synergies on multiple fronts is the need of the hour. IIT Guwahati’s collaboration with ICWA will be a major step towards the combined efforts to address the challenges and opportunities in the global arena and shared vision of One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

The collaboration aims to achieve the intellectual development of stakeholders in Assam, including universities, academic institutions, industries and other partners, by increasing awareness of international affairs and Indian foreign policy. Through the partnership, there will be joint studies on topics of mutual interest through agreed modalities to address common issues.
