IIT Hyderabad, Deakin University to offer joint doctoral programme in science, technology

The 4-year IITH-Deakin programme will be providing PhD fellowship, stipend, full-tuition waiver based on eligibility research requirements.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) along with the Deakin University are offering a joint doctoral programme for motivated students to work in areas of science and technology. The candidates chosen for the 4-year programme up to 12 months at Deakin depending on research requirements. Interested candidates can apply at official website- iitkac.in by 5 PM till April 17, 2023.

IIT Hyderabad will be providing a regular PhD fellowship to the students during their academic stay at IIT and when the students travel to Deakin, student will receive stipend at the rate of AUD 30,000 per annum for the duration of their stay. The candidates who join with BTech or BE will get dual degree (MTech from IITH and PhD from both Deakin and IITH).

In addition to this, Deakin will be providing a full tuition fee waiver for up to 4 years and a stipend of AUD 150 per month for 3-years while they are at IITH.

IITH-Deakin Doctoral Programme: Eligibility criteria

The applicants should have a valid GATE score. The GATE score may be waived for students from IITs and NITs. BE and BTech in the relevant branches of science and engineering with a CGPA of 8.5 (in 10-point scale) or equivalent for the general category. In regards to MDes, MSc, MTech in the relevant branch of design, science, engineering with a CGPA of 8.5 (in 10-point scale) or equivalent for the general category.

Research Thrust Areas under IITH-Deakin Joint Doctoral Program:

The IITH-Deakin University JDP will be recruiting research scholars under the following areas:

  • Critical technology (artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security and data science)
  • Future sustainable infrastructure (energy, smart mobility, transportation, waste management, sustainability and climate change.)
  • Health care technologies (sensors and devices, robotics and nanotechnology)
  • Materials and smart manufacturing (additive manufacturing)
  • Bio-inspired processes and systems (biotechnology)
