IIT Hyderabad launches 4-week applied AI certificate programme for working professionals

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) has launched an applied AI professional certification programme for working professionals. The four-week course is designed to teach how AI applications are engineered for real-world deployment.

The engineering institute will conduct the online certificate programme from September 19 to October 17, 2026. The course will focus towards designing, building, evaluating and operating reliable AI agent systems.

Candidates can apply for the certificate course through the official website at launchpad.cse.iit.ac.in.

The course will be held in a hybrid mode and instructor-led sessions will be held on Saturdays, where candidates will be able to attend on campus at IIT Hyderabad or online, as per the official notification.

IIT Hyderabad's Hybrid certificate Programme

The course will include guided online learning, hands-on assignments, project development and mentor support, enabling participants to apply each week's concepts to an evolving project before progressing to the next stage.

Notably, the lectures will be delivered by Praveen Tammana, Ashish Mishra and Anupam Sanghi, faculty members in the department of computer science and engineering at IIT Hyderabad, along with NVSS Koundinya, AI Solution Architect.

Candidates will develop a single production-style AI agent application throughout the four weeks. The program will conclude with project demonstrations, presentations and feedback.

As part of the programme, participants will learn engineering practices related to tool use, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), memory, orchestration, multi-agent systems, evaluation, observability, guardrails and deployment.

The focus is on helping professionals understand the complete process of developing reliable AI agent systems for practical applications.

The programme will provide professionals with an opportunity to engage directly with IIT Hyderabad faculty-led learning, while applying the concepts through continuous project development.

Participants who successfully complete the prescribed assignments, assessments and programme requirements will receive an IIT Hyderabad Professional Certificate.
