IIT Jodhpur, AIIMS Jodhpur host first Indian conference on medical technology innovations

ICMI 2023 by IIT Jodhpur and AIIMS Jodhpur was attended by over 300 students, experts, research organisations to discuss critical topics in MedTech industry.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ) along with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jodhpur jointly held the first Indian conference on medical technologies innovations (ICMI 2023) from February 14 to 26, 2023.
The conference was initiated by the students of medical technologies programmes jointly offered by IIT Jodhpur and AIIMS Jodhpur. The programmes in medical technologies are a first-of-its-kind in the country offering masters, PhDs and maters-PhD dual degrees.

Over 300 attendees from institutes including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, AIIMS Delhi, Datta Meghe University of Health Sciences Wardha among others from the MedTech industry, research organizations and incubation centers were present at the event. Leading experts in engineering, medicine, industry and innovation also attended the ICMI 2023 to discuss critical topics, share visions for the future.
Day 1 at ICMI 2023
The inaugural session of the conference included opening remarks by IIT Jodhpur, director, Santanu Chaudhury, emphasizing that the joint MedTech programmes are innovative programmes that lead to a pathway of innovation to start up with needs from real-life problems with deep-tech solutions.
The inaugural session ended with the coordinators of the joint programmes, IITJ, Sushmita Jha, and AIIMS Jodhpur, Shilpi Gupta Dixit, inviting the attendees to the poster and scientific sessions as well as 'Avinya', the MedTech Hackathon.

Day 2 at ICMI 2023
The second day at the conference commences with innovator talks by Janitri, founder, Arun Agarwal; Stanford University Byers, India programme, director, Raj Doshi and GE Healthcare, director, research and development, Ramkrishna Rao among others. This was followed by discussion session with all speakers on the challenges of setting up and running a start-up company.
The poster sessions and scientific talks were judged while the MedTech exhibition and networking area conducted unstructured interaction among the participants. The Avinya hackathon was a student-centric event that explored the topic of unmet clinical needs with clinical immersion. The hackathon allowed teams of doctors and engineers to work on deep tech solutions for MedTech challenges as start-up pitches and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges at the AIIMS Jodhpur, auditorium.

Awards for best team in- problem Identification, pitch deck, business aspect and market research, for technology application, social impact and best efforts were given. IIT Jodhpur, director presented the awards and cash prizes to the winners. At the end of the event, the announcement of the next ICMI from February 1 to 3, 2024 was made.
