NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has dismissed the petitions seeking National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2023 postponement. NEET PG is scheduled to be held on March 5.
Petitioners argued that if NEET PG is conducted on March 5, counselling can begin only after August 11, which is the internship cut-off date, thereby creating a huge gap between the exam date and counselling. However, ASG Aishwarya Bhati, as per Live Law, today informed in the Supreme Court that NEET PG counselling will be held from July 15 without waiting for the August 11 deadline for mandatory internship completion. ASG Bhati further added that those without certificate will be allowed to participate provisionally.
Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan, appearing for the petitioners, submitted that out of the over two lakh candidates who have registered for NEET PG 2023, around 1.3 lakh had completed their graduation in previous years and couldn't qualify in previous attempts.
On February 24, the bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justice S Ravindra Bhatt categorically stated that they are not passing any order either way and keeping the issue open until the next hearing date.
Meanwhile, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has issued NEET PG 2023 admit card today. Candidates who registered for the exam can download NEET PG hall ticket 2023 from the official website, nbe.edu.in or natboard.edu.in. The National Medical Commission (NMC) had examined the representations as directed by Telangana High Court and denied postponement owing to exam preparations, problem for 98% students who are not demanding postponement.
