NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has launched a one-of-a-kind eMasters programme in renewable energy and e-Mobility. The course has been designed by the department of sustainable energy engineering, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, and electrical engineering.

Interested candidates do not require a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score to apply for the eMasters programme. It can be pursued without pausing professional careers. Students will get the flexibility to complete the programme within 1-3 years.

The programme offers live interactive weekend classes and self-paced learning provided by distinguished faculty and accomplished researchers from IIT Kanpur. The curriculum of the programme will let students earn 60 credits. Participants will also get access to IIT Kanpur's incubation cell and extensive alum network, enriching their career advancement and networking prospects.

“The e-Masters program in Renewable Energy and e-Mobility helps harness the possibilities as the world accelerates its shift from fossil fuels, curbing carbon emissions, and combating climate change. The program presents a transformative journey towards innovative and eco-friendly solutions,” IIT Kanpur said in an official statement.

As part of the online programme, participants have the unique opportunity to visit the IIT Kanpur campus, where they can engage with the faculty members and connect with professionals, earning the status of being an IIT Kanpur alumni.

The institute said that unlike other diploma or professional courses, the eMasters degree programme at IIT Kanpur confers formal senate-approved degrees, which are awarded during convocation ceremonies.
