IIT Kharagpur announces more MTech seats under Platinum Jubilee Scheme

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has launched the Director's Platinum Jubilee Scheme to provide more admission opportunities for postgraduate students as part of its 75th anniversary celebrations.

Under the initiative, IIT Kharagpur has increased its annual MTech intake by introducing additional seats across selected disciplines for the 2026-27 academic session.

IIT Kharagpur has shared the announcement through its official X account, informing Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) qualified candidates about the increased intake.

IIT Kharagpur: MTech admission 2026 eligibility

Admissions under the platinum jubilee scheme will follow the existing MTech admission process. Candidates seeking admission must qualify through the GATE. The additional seats introduced will be offered across selected strategic disciplines.

Graduates from any IIT are also eligible to apply without a GATE score only if they have secured a minimum CGPA of 8.0 on a 10-point scale.

Candidates who have already applied for IIT Kharagpur MTech admissions for the 2026-27 academic session but are yet to receive an admission offer should regularly visit the official IIT Kharagpur website, iitkgp.ac.in, for the latest admission updates and notifications.

The institute also said that eligible applicants will be informed about additional admission opportunities under the platinum jubilee scheme through their registered email IDs when the newly created seats become available.
