IIT Kharagpur to organise monthly meeting of stakeholders from October

KOLKATA: IIT Kharagpur will organise a monthly meeting of stakeholders from October for the all-round holistic development of its students and researchers, institute Director Prof Suman Chakraborty said on Monday. Apart from the meeting, there will be interaction among students, researchers and hostel authorities about facilities, amenities and food for the boarders, he told PTI.

"There will be a town hall meeting from next month where all stakeholders can open up and discuss outstanding issues to thrash out problems and disagreements," he said.

Chakraborty also said that apart from the town hall meetings, there will be interaction with boarders to discuss their problems about lodging, food and dietary problems in hostels. He said Prof Sanjay Gupta has been appointed the Dean of Career Development to help students plan career opportunities.

The move comes in the wake of a spate of unnatural deaths on IIT Kharagpur campus in recent times. He said the SETU (Support, Empathy, Transformation & Upliftment) team, the institute's dedicated student counselling and mental well-being centre, has also been functioning.
