IIT Madras launches registration portal for Kashi Tamil Sangamam; apply by December 8

Kashi Tamil Sangamam: Workshops, seminars, and other campaign outreach programmes will be held by IIT Madras in collaboration with TN institutes from December 1 to 31.
NEW DELHI : Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched registration portal for Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) phase 2 on November 27. The second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam programme is proposed to be held from December 17 to December 30.
Interested people from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry can apply for KTS at kashitamil.iitm.ac.in by December 8.
KTS is a month-long programme organised by the ministry of education, to celebrate and rediscover the age-old links between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi.
It is projected that in phase 2 of KTS, around 1,400 people from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will travel by train to Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya for an eight-day trip. Students, teachers, farmers, craftsmen, dealers, and businessmen, as well as religious, authors, and professionals, will be divided into seven groups. Each group will have around 200 people.
The groups will be named after sacred rivers such as the Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Sindhu, Narmada, Godavari, and Cauvery. A selection committee will be formed for the purpose of selecting delegates. The delegates will be taken to historical, tourist, and religious sites, and will be interacting with individuals from their respective fields of work in Uttar Pradesh.

IIT Madras and IIT BHU will act as the respective implementing agencies in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh to leverage on Phase I learnings and given their reputation for research.
Academic exchanges
Delegate itinerary will include two days each for onward and return journeys. During this period, there will be academic exchanges - seminars, discussions, lectures - on various areas of knowledge such as literature, ancient texts, philosophy, spirituality, music, dance, drama, yoga, Ayurveda, handlooms, handicrafts, as well as modern innovations, trade exchanges, edutech, and other gen next technology.
Campaign outreach programmes
IIT Madras will organise awareness generating and outreach events in collaboration with Tamil Nadu institutions. Workshops, seminars, meetings, and other outreach campaign programmes will be held from December 1 to December 31, 2023.
