NEW DELHI: IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation partners with SWAYAM Plus to launch a training programme for engineering students from mechanical, manufacturing, and production backgrounds with industry-ready technical skills today, October 7. Participating students will be offered placement assistance by the Central Skill Training Facility (CSTF) at IIT Madras. The training programme will be held at the IIT Madras campus, the official IITM statement said.
The last date to apply for the training programme is October 10. The training programme will commence from October 14 to 26, 2024. Interested students can apply for the programme through the official portal, iitmpravartak.org.in.
The programme offers a comprehensive and practical approach, bridging a gap between theoretical engineering concepts and real-world manufacturing processes, IITM note adds.
“With a right blend of theory (20%) and experiential understanding (80%), skills such as simple quantification, back of the envelope calculations, quick engineering drawings, use of right tools, classification, taxonomy fundamentals, and systems approach to planning and execution will be introduced and strengthened,” the IITM statement added.

The programme curriculum is designed in collaboration with industry experts to deliver a hands-on experience with the latest technology and processes in engineering industries. It includes practice in 3D modeling, 3D printing, CAM, CNC programming and CNC machining, product development, prototyping, and testing, the IIT Madras statement adds
The Central Skill Training Facility (CSTF) at IIT Madras will provide placement assistance and connect final-year students with start-ups, and leading mechanical, manufacturing companies. This course aims to empower students with relevant industry knowledge required to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in the engineering industry.
Eligibility criteria: Engineering Students who have completed their degree or doing their final year in mechanical, manufacturing, and production sectors can apply for the programmme.
Benefits: Skill the students to enable them to join any manufacturing, R and D, product development start-up companies.
Programme fee: The program will provide completely hands-on training with a subsidized fee of Rs 6,000 including GST. Students will be offered accommodation at the IIT Madras campus at a basic cost of Rs 650 per day including food and stay. Students will be able to make accommodation requests for accommodation on or before October 10.
