NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi partnered with the Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN) organised its 10th skill development programme. The one-month programme held from January 29 to February 29, 2024, aimed to equip young students from Himachal Pradesh with essential skills in Machine Learning (ML).
According to the official press release, 54 participants from the Himachal region actively participated in the programme. During the programme, participants were engaged in a detailed curriculum crafted to provide them with hands-on experience and expertise in machine learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Tushar Jain, head of centre for continuing education, IIT Mandi, said: “I appreciate the efforts put in by HPKVN and their leadership to provide this opportunity and empower the youth of Himachal Pradesh. These one-month-long courses on machine learning along with Internet of Things (IoT) and Robotics offered by IIT Mandi focused on skill development and played a crucial role in enhancing the employability and economic prospects of these enthusiastic youths.”

The conclusion of the machine learning skill development training programme underscores IIT Mandi's dedication to nurturing innovation and enhancing skills among the youth of Himachal Pradesh. By working in collaboration with HPKVN and various partners, IIT Mandi remains committed to building a proficient workforce and promoting socio-economic development in the region, the institute said in a statement.
The programme concluded with a ceremony attended by dignitaries including Gandharva Rathore, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) managing director of HPKVN; Atul Karohta, state coordinator of HPKVN; Shivendu Chauhan, district coordinator of HPKVN; Tushar Jain, head of the centre for continuing education (CCE) at IIT Mandi; Manoj Thakur, chairperson, school of management, IIT Mandi; and Anjan Kumar Swain, program coordinator at IIT Mandi.
