IIT Patna has launched BTech courses in artificial intelligence and data science, engineering physics, and bs in mathematics and computing.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Patna has introduced three new programmes - artificial intelligence and data science, engineering physics, and BS in mathematics and computing from the academic year 2021, as per a Hindustan Times report.
The institute will conduct admission to these programmes through JEE Advanced 2021 scores, the results of which have been announced on October 15, the report said.

According to IIT Patna, the new engineering courses have been launched to meet the rising demand for new age technology and professionals from these areas, the report said.
Rajendra Paramanik, professor in-charge of public relations, told the Hindustan Times: “The institution has allotted 36 seats for admission in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, 36 for Engineering Physics, and 48 for BS in Mathematics and Computing.”
Pramanik further told Hindustan Times that the institute has increased its seats to 547 from previous year’s 427 by adding these programmes and 10% supernumerary seats have been reserved for foreign candidates.
According to the report, the university officials elaborated on the details of the newly introduced engineering programmes and said that while data science and artificial intelligence subjects teach handling huge data volumes, engineering physics discipline is a blend of engineering, physics and mathematics.
Mathematics and computing course is designed by combining mathematical and analytical components.

IIT Patna already offers BTech programmes in various disciplines, including computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering and metallurgical and materials.
