The council has declared these institutions ‘unsuitable’ for nursing programmes; candidates with certificates from them can register only in Kerala.
The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has withdrawn the national accreditation for 24 nursing institutions in Kerala after they failed to comply with regulations and skipped inspections for several years. The council has deemed such institutions 'unsuitable' for conducting nursing programmes.
The council stated that the state government and the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council were requested to submit their recommendations regarding the suitability of nursing institutions in November 2024.
However, the council did not receive any remarks or recommendations from the state government or the KNMC regarding the suitability of the colleges.
“Candidates who have obtained a recognised qualification certificate from these institutions can register only in Kerala, and not in other states,” according to the INC statement.
“The affected educational institutions include government, private, and mission-run colleges offering ANM, GNM, BSc Nursing, MSc Nursing, Post Basic BSc Nursing, and Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care (NPCC) courses in districts such as Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Kannur, Wayanad, Thrissur, Kollam, Kozhikode, and Idukki,” the statement added.
