NEW DELHI: Indian Army is helping students from Jammu and Kashmir to prepare for medical entrance examinations by providing coaching and financial assistance to acquire admission in medical colleges. The ‘Army HPCL Kashmir Super 50’ initiative by the Indian Army in the North Kashmir areas is providing coaching to students free of cost, reported ANI.

The project launched for the first time in 2018 was called Super 30. Under the project, the army visited schools to conduct exams to select students for the coaching programme. In 2020, the project was renamed Super 50 when the army extended the coaching for girls.

“We have 30 boys and 20 girls studying here and they are provided free of cost facilities to pursue their ambitions. The Army is also sponsoring fees once the students get admissions to institutions such as AIIMS,” Wahid Farooq, who teaches in the Army’s institute told ANI.

Recently, the Indian army had set up a quantum computing laboratory and artificial intelligence (AI) centre at a military engineering institute in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh to research on developing transformative technologies for the armed forces. According to the defence ministry, the Army’s research in the field of quantum technology will help in achieving advanced communication and hence switch from cryptography to post-quantum cryptography. It said the key thrust areas are quantum key distribution, quantum communication and quantum computing, among others.
